Paper Piecing

Here is a technique, called Paper Piecing, that I was introduced to several years ago at a stamp meeting. I’m sure this has been around for many, many years. However, being a stamper at the time for less than 5 years, it was new to me.

In the Moment paper piecing card

When I saw this stamp set, I knew I had to create cards with paper piecing. And that meant, I had to pull out the old denim background stamp. To do this, I would stamp the image on card stock already stamped with the denim background. Then cut out the pants and add that to the stamped image to make it look like jeans. I also cut the pillow image out of the denim stamped card stock. The shirt of the girl was stamped onto a different patterned paper, cut out and attached.

This stamp set is called In the Moment and has three unique female scenes, that are perfect for those girl to girl cards. Here is a link to my online store. Have a look.

Paper Piecing is such a fun technique, and I try to use it whenever I get the chance to “dress” people images on my cards. It reminds me of playing with paper dolls as a child. Good memories!
