Carols of Christmas – Bendi card

In an attempt to improve my card making skills and try new techniques, I participate in a small card swap between other local Stamping’Up! demonstrators. For last month’s swap, we were to use a stamp set from the new Holiday Catalog 2017. For this, I opted to use the Carols of Christmas and try my hand at my first Bendi card. When working with a new design, particularly something more 3D, I work with cheap materials while I work through a prototype for the new design. So here is my first attempt with a Bendi card using the Carols of Christmas stamp set and Card Front Builder framelits bundle.

Simply using white card stock for the Bendi parts was too plain and flat for my taste. It needed some pizzazz. So I opted to make the Bendi arms using Dazzling Diamonds card stock to simulate sparkling snow, and using silver glimmer card stock to die cut the trees. Next, I found without a card base that opened, you are left with this look on the back of the card, which I also didn’t like.

That’s when I decided that it would be best to put the entire Bendi card onto a full card base, so that the card would open to view the message, and the Bendi tabs adhered to the back of the Bendi card could be hidden.

Using the Merry Little Christmas DSP gives the card a nice back drop for the scene and sentiment.
