Here is a new way to create dimensional butterflies to add to your cards. Stamp two butterflies, first with the outline stamp and then with the fill-in stamps. Stamp one of the butterflies on the back as well. Then cut them both in half and switch the pieces so they layer on top of each one like a sideways butterfly. Attach the one half to the other. Use a small 1″ x 1/4″ piece of acetate, folded in half, and glue it to each butterfly half. By using the acetate instead of foam dots the butterflies will lay and mail flat, and then pop up when removed from the envelope.
The butterflies and sentiment are added to a piece of vellum. That helps to tone down the bright color of the background paper, so it doesn’t compete too much. The vellum is attached to the card front by adding adhesive only behind the butterflies and sentiment. This is so the adhesive won’t show through.
