I am posting this, finally, months after making the trendy trellis card. Hopefully, it has not yet lost its trend. I am going through many of the steps we took to make this card. And, it differs from many of the tutorials out there.
First, instead of cutting the 1/2″ strips from the front of the card base, we removed it all in one piece to use for stamping and cutting the florals we attach. I have many 1/2″ white strips left from cutting down 8 1/2″ x 11″ card stock into layering pieces. So, we use these to create the trellis look.
First we attach/glue two vertical strips 1/2″ in from the side of the card front. And, then, attach/glue the horizontal strips to the vertical strips, spacing them evenly. The excess can then be cut off to be even with the back of the card base. I think this method was easier than trying to line up strips that were cut exactly the right size from the front of the card base.
Some of the florals were glued directly to the trellis. Others were tucked in behind some of the strips, and some were popped up on dimensionals. This left things looking messy on the inside front of the card.
So, we added some pretty gingham patterned paper to the inside of the card front, thereby, hiding all that messy look.
The photos show several different floral options for the trendy trellis card. I hope you like this look and try it.
I have seen this card made with so many beautiful florals. So, even though, the florals I used in these cards are now retired from Stampin’Up!, you will find many other stamps to create similar looks at my online store.
